We went to the beach today. Poor Louis has been asking every day for nearly a month to go. This was likely our last visit for the Summer. Leah had a great time doing her usual beachcombing. Gabriel and I hung out on the sand and walking around the water.

Peaceful Slumber

It really never gets old. I can sit back and just watch him sleep for hours on end. His peaceful slumber relaxes me.

Happy 1 Month!

Hard to believe but it has been a month since Gabriel made his way Earthside.

He is starting to have more awake hours during the day & responds to our voices.

1 Month Milestones

Most babies should be able to . . .

  • Lift head briefly when on stomach

  • Respond to sound - he looks around when he hears Louis & Leah

  • Blink at bright lights - as all our children, he has a camera in his face quite often and responds to the flash.

  • Stare and focus at faces

Some babies will probably be able to . . .

  • Follow objects moved about 6 to 10 inches from face - I've noticed he looks at the dangling toy on his seat if Louis moves it about.

  • Ooohs and aahhs - Gabriel has started to aahh a lot.

  • Turn towards familiar voices and sounds

  • Look and see black and white patterns

Some babies could possibly be able to . . .

  • Smile in response to your smile - only gas smiles

  • Laugh - sometimes he gets this look on his face like he is going to laugh but hasn't quite figured out how to do it yet.

  • Hold up head at 45 degree angle

  • Hold head steady when upright

Never Gets Old

It's almost a month since Gabriel joined our family. I was sure that by this point Leah and Louis would be bored with him but I was wrong. Every morning Louis comes downstairs looking for the baby and Leah does the same.

Babywearing For The Win!

I am a huge advocate of babywearing. I've worn Leah and Louis for years and now do the same with Gabriel. With each child I became better educated on the different carriers and the benefits of each one. Gabriel has benefited from this growing knowledge the most. He is my first child to be worn in a wrap most days. This wrap is like wearing a big comfy t-shirt. I absolutely love it and he does too.

First Wedding

Gabriel attended his first wedding today. He is almost 3 weeks and already he's been to a wedding. I wasn't sure if I could attend so soon but it all worked out. I'm sure he had a great time dancing with Leah.

Here we are together, he is being worn in a Reversible Mei Tai Wrap Hybrid made by Obimama.

Exhausted

At the end of the there is very little keeping me from falling asleep and the same can be said for Louis and Gabriel. My day is spent entirely wrapped up in the two boys and most nights too. I wouldn't change it, it's pretty wonderful.

Big Sisters Rock!

Leah rocks the big sister role. The boys are lucky to have her. She absolutely relishes every moment.

Happy Birthday Big Sis!

Today is Leah's 7th birthday. It's hard believe that not only is Leah 7 but that we are joined by another baby boy. We celebrated by going to one of her favorite restaurants, Bertucci's.

It was our first outing together as a family of 5 to a restaurant. Grandpa George and Grandma Ruth joined us for dinner. It was a success.

Gabriel stayed cozy and all wrapped in my Moby Wrap. He absolutely loves being worn. And it certainly makes my life easier to have free hands to do things like eat my dinner.

Little Lamb

Sound asleep in his bassinet. Louis loved the newborn napper that came with our play yard. Gabriel does too.

Mobile Fun

Matt has a smartphone and takes a lot of photos of the kids throughout the day. He snapped these two of Gabriel.

Big Brother Louis

Louis is absolutely in love with his little brother. I didn't really have a clue of how Louis would handle having another baby in the house. It has been one of my biggest worries, throughout my pregnancy and until his birth. Since I quit my job to stay home it has been just the two of us. From the first moment Louis saw Gabriel he has been completely in love with his baby brother. He wants to hug him and kiss him all day long.

His favorite thing is to ask if he can hold him. He says "Hold it! Hold it! Please hold it!"

Leah loves Louis, Louis loves Leah, they both love Gabriel. Without fail Gabriel will love them back.

Gabriel is one lucky boy.

Knocked out

Gabriel sleeps well. Apparently since his birth? So do I...once I fall asleep that is.
